This course provides an introduction to the field of nuclear security, with a focus on the UK context. Participants will gain an understanding of the key threats facing the nuclear industry, as well as the legal and regulatory frameworks in place to mitigate these risks.

Topics covered include threat assessment, design basis threat, physical security, cybersecurity, and the human factors that can impact security. Participants will also learn about the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in the UK nuclear sector, such as the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, the Intelligence Community, Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and the Office for Nuclear Regulation. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of nuclear security and the unique challenges that exist in the UK context.
